Lifestyle attracts attention. Talent, investment and productive businesses pay the bills. Our 2026 Global Australian Report shows Australia is better known for its quality of life, natural environment, friendly and open culture, and tourism than for the talent and innovation that drive our prosperity. Promoting Australia’s lifestyle is valuable. Positioning Australia to attract investment and compete globally is essential. 60% of respondents believe Australia is falling behind global economic and technological change. Every week, around 88 Australians contact Global Australians seeking opportunities at home. They bring skills, experience and international connections in key sectors that can help Australian businesses grow. The talent is there. Are we utilising it effectively and efficiently? The government is already spending substantial public money to promote Australia and support trade, investment and international engagement, including in the 2026–27 Federal Budget: • $161.1 million in government funding for Tourism Australia • $303.9 million for Austrade’s trade, investment and tourism services • $61.5 million for DFAT’s public information and public diplomacy These figures cover operations and services as well as promotion. Connecting these efforts with our global community help deliver more talent, trade, investment and jobs. At Global Australians, we have built the community and infrastructure and raising the funds to deliver it. We believe Australia can do better, creating practical pathways and connections that help our people turn their ambition and capability around the world into opportunities at home. We’re in this together. Let’s work together and get it done. We go further together.
